NEED HELP?

We do not take strays. We are not a shelter. We are not able to take dogs or cats that you have personally "rescued".

There are many needy dog or cat situations that you may be presented with and we always strive to offer advice, referrals or directions to help you ensure the dog or cat is returned to a safe environment. If we do not answer your questions here, please call or email us and we will do everything we can to help you find a suitable solution.

STRAYS - Stray dogs and cats, are possibly just lost and their family is looking for them, or they have possibly been a stray their whole life. If you observe they have a collar or are very people friendly, you could try to find their owner by calling the number on the collar, or call the shelter to see if anyone has reported a lost pet. We recommend calling the shelter that serves the city you have found the pet in. They will be able to guide you on their "stray protocol". If you do not see a collar, do not approach the dog/cat, call Animal Services and report the stray.

LOST PETS - If your pet is lost, we suggest you call the shelter that serves the city you live in and any possible shelters or bordering cities, if you live close to a city border. You may also want to post "Lost" signs. If you live in a city that contracts with a "Kill" shelter (a shelter that euthanizes due to overpopulation - which means your pet could have anywhere from 4 days to 2 weeks before their time is up at the shelter), your pet may have been rescued by a neighbor and your signs in the neighborhood are how they will find you to
return your pet.

UNWANTED PETS - If you are no longer able to keep your pet for whatever reason, there are very few options. Its best to network among your friends or families that may already have a concern and care for your pet and may hopefully desire to adopt from you. You can also call your veterinarian that is familiar with the breed and temperament of your pet and may have a family in mind that would be a suitable adopter. Lastly, we have a pet surrender program (click here to learn more).

RESCUED PET - if you have found a pet it is considered a "stray", you may believe you have rescued it, but if it is lost or has a family, they will find it through the shelter. If you are hesitant to call the shelter because of their euthanasia policy, you could call them and check back often for any calls they have received for a "lost pet"or list the pet on Craigslist. Chances are if the pet is friendly, easily approachable the owner will return to the shelter, you can request that the pet be returned to you if the owner doesn't return, or it will hopefully be adopted rescues.

ABUSE - If you have witnessed abuse or are concerned for the health and welfare of a dog or cat, please call your local police to report your concerns.
